Edinburgh Day 1

We started our first full day in Edinburgh with some exciting adventures. Our itinerary for the day included a tour of Mary King’s Clos, lunch, and a trip to Edinburgh Castle. My favorite part of the day was far and beyond Edinburgh Castle.

First of all Edinburgh Castle is really, really, really old. Some of the buildings date back as far as the 12th century and I t is truly worth a see for the aesthetics alone. The magnificent view of the City of Edinburgh that can be seen from the grounds of the castle are equally as magnificent.

Not only is Edinburgh Castle a beautiful piece of architectural history but it houses some incredible Scottish history as well. One of my favorite parts of our visit was getting to see the living quarters of prisoners of war from both the 18th and 19th century. And don’t forget to see the Honours of Scotland.

It was a day well spent here in Edinburgh and the Edinburgh Castle certainly has something for everyone.
