Portobello Beach: Edinburgh

Portobello Beach is supposed to be Edinburgh’s most popular beach. In the 19th century, this served as a popular form of entertainment complete with bathing machines, donkey rides, and a funfair. Today there are still cute ice cream parlors, shops, and a funfair along the beach.

This interests me for several reasons:

1. Beaches are one of my favorite things.

2. It would be so neat to be on the beach and turn around to see old buildings instead of what you would see if on Lake Michigan or in Florida.

How to Get There:

You can get there in 24 minutes from Edinburgh using public transportation.
